[dropcap]The[/dropcap] National Underground Railroad Freedom Center will honor singer and civil rights activist Mavis Staples with one of its most significant awards later this month. [mc4wp_form id=”6042″]
The center will present Staples with the Everyday Freedom Hero Award during a reception April 20 at Memorial Hall prior to her performance, An Evening with Mavis Staples.
Tickets are still available for $55 each for the 8 p.m. show. The reception is open to concert ticketholders. Staples will receive her award at 6:45 p.m.
