[dropcap]We[/dropcap] all know this year was kind of an epic shit storm. From the seemingly constant political drama to many natural disasters, it felt like at any given moment the world was ready to implode, and we were completely ill-prepared. Not to mention all the talented souls that were taken from us far too soon. But one shiny spark in an otherwise dim moment in time? 2017 was a great year for books, particularly books penned by Black authors. [mc4wp_form id=”6042″]

Now, we’re well aware that no single list will ever fully encapsulate the brilliance and magick of the stories Black authors have blessed our bookshelves with this year. But we’ve got to start somewhere. Which is exactly why we’ve compiled a list of the best books of 2017 by Black authors. Because let’s be real, they deserve all the recognition. Throughout history, the contributions to literature made by Black authors have often been ignored. Black writers, their stories, and their accomplishments are too often overlooked.
